We waited for an extra three hours for the main arena to open at Wizard Festival 2009, not knowing that the wind had reached 50 mile an hour gusts and delayed things. We were too busy putting up our tent to worry much what other effects the wind would have!
The delay meant that the Red Hot Chilli Pipers were first act on. Turned out a really good opening act for a great weekend!

Excellent photo – also, if you’re in the band and you’re reading this. WHO IS YOUR DRUMMER? I spent the first three songs trying to work out how i KNEW that face, the next song deciding that his name is probably stavros and afterwards deciding he must have worked in Europa/underworld/stavka at some point.
Hi,
I play the kit with the chiili pipers, some people know me as stav, I used to work in Stavka. Were you a regular???
SB
Aha! I knew it. No, not a regular…I worked in Europa with Neil for a bit so I guess we probably shared a shift if you ever helped out on a football day? Or maybe he introduced us at some other point. I’ve moved up to Aberdeen now so it was quite bizarre seeing a Glasgow person, ON STAGE haha. Great gig btw!
