Union Square Atrium

Two hours after opening and, in some places at least, the crush has eased at the new Union Square shopping centre in Aberdeen.

Been Waiting Long?

I wish I’d taken a better shot of this scene now I look at it again but there’s still something pleasingly Monty Pythonesque about a mediaeval queue for a bus.

Schiltron, a group of mediaeval re-enactors from Aberdeen, wait at a bus stop on Union Terrace.

Marine Operations Centre

There are particular places and specific buildings in every town & city that, despite being off the main tourist trails, continually attract photographers. They are usually easy to photograph but tricky to photograph in any new or interesting way.

This is my excuse if I’ve over done the effect on this image!

It never fails to amaze me that most of the ships passing in & out of Aberdeen Harbour these days are taller than this impressive building!

Aberdeen Harbour Panorama

This is my first real attempt at creating a satisfying photo-stitch panorama, I quite like it – but I also see some technical aspects that can be easily improved in future, which I also like as it will encourage return visits for more photos!
The four images photo-stitched together in photoshop were taken using my favourite camera (the wee Canon G10 I carry everywhere) using it’s photo-stitch assist mode. I shouldn’t really use that option as it refuses to save as RAW files but at the time I was more concerned about makign sure I had used every possible option on the camera, just incase I missed any hidden gems!

Panorama’s by their nature don’t fit well into web page columns so “click here for larger:)

Blog Info

The SpoiltCat.com Blog only has one rule, “Never apologise for lack of updates.”

If there’s something interesting to share then we’ll try to find the time to share it, if not we’ll try to find something interesting. Updates will be irregular, we’ll neglect you and you may wonder if there will ever be another article.

Don’t worry though, we’ll write again soon—where “soon” is an undefined quantity …
